Anti-scatter grid
TechnicalDevice made of strips of radiopaque material (lead) alternating with radiolucent material (aluminium or carbon fibre). Placed between the patient and the detector, it reduces scatter radiation and improves contrast. Required for body thicknesses greater than 10–12 cm. It requires an increase in mAs to compensate for its absorption.
