Objective
Zygapophyseal (facet) joints of the thoracic spine. The thoracic intervertebral foramina are instead assessed on the lateral projection.
Quality criteria
Zygapophyseal (facet) joints of the thoracic spine visible and open on the side closer to the detector.
Vertebral bodies obliquely projected, pedicles visible.
No over- or under-rotation.
Common errors
Incorrect obliquity (other than ~70°).
Incorrect centring.
Movement.
