Petrous ridge

Anatomy

The densest portion of the temporal bone, pyramid-shaped with its apex pointing medially. It contains the inner-ear structures (cochlea, semicircular canals) and the internal auditory canal. In skull projections it can overlap other structures if positioning is incorrect.
