Objective
Assessment of anterior acetabular coverage and measurement of the Anterior Center-Edge Angle (ACEA). Indicated in acetabular dysplasia, anterior hip osteoarthritis, pincer femoroacetabular impingement.
Quality criteria
Femoral head in profile.
Acetabulum and centre of rotation identifiable.
Coxofemoral joint included in its entirety.
Common errors
Incorrect patient angulation — femoral head not in true profile.
Patient not weight-bearing — loss of information on articular congruence under load.
