Objective
Humeral head and glenoid.
Quality criteria
Humeral head and glenoid visible.
Glenohumeral space open.
No trunk rotation.
Neutral rotation: greater tuberosity partially in profile, lesser tuberosity superimposed on the head.
External rotation: greater tuberosity maximally lateralised and in profile, anatomical neck visible — ideal for the rotator cuff.
Internal rotation: lesser tuberosity projected anteriorly, humeral head in "light bulb" profile — ideal for detecting calcifications.
Common errors
Patient rotation.
Incorrect centring.
Movement.
