Shoulder X-Ray Axillary (Lawrence)

Upper Limb Infero-superior axial STD
Objective

Humeral head in axial profile, glenohumeral relationship on the axial axis, anterior and posterior glenoid rim. Assessment of glenohumeral dislocation, Bankart lesion, Hill-Sachs lesion and acromion morphology.

Quality criteria

Humeral head in axial profile.
Glenoid visible anteriorly and posteriorly.
Coracoid process projected anteriorly.
Acromion visible superiorly.
Glenohumeral joint space open on the axial axis.

Common errors

Insufficient abduction (reduces the axillary window).
Incorrect beam angulation (humeral head superimposed on acromion or glenoid).
Detector not sufficiently medial.
Movement.
