Subtalar joint

Anatomy

Joint between the talus and calcaneus, made up of a posterior facet (larger) and two anterior facets. It allows inversion and eversion of the foot. Not visible on standard ankle projections; it requires dedicated projections (Broden, axial calcaneus) or CT.
