Risser sign

Technical

A scale from 0 to 5 that assesses ossification of the iliac apophysis on scoliosis radiographs. It indicates skeletal maturity: Risser 0 = immature skeleton; Risser 5 = complete skeletal maturity. Used to predict the risk of scoliosis progression.
